We'll be starting our new English text next week, but in the meantime we've done lots of writing in other lessons. In topic, we thought a bit more about what it was like to live inside a castle and discovered that it really depended on who you were and what you did. The children wrote a short explanation about life as a servant and compared it with life as a Lord or Lady. We went on to explore what it was like for those who lived outside the castle walls and watched an interesting film about living in a one-room hovel! It was a unanimous decision that we wouldn't like to have leek pottage for tea! We also had an art lesson which was topic-inspired when we used watercolours to create our own castle pictures. Look out for our gallery next week.
In maths, we've continued our work on fractions. The Year 1s have been exploring quarters while the Year 2s focused on three-quarters. In computing, we found out the difference between taking photographs in portrait or landscape format and had a go at taking some photos of items in the classroom environment.
In science, we have just started to think about materials again, starting with what can we remember...
Finally, the children have been bringing in some of their recycled models that they made over the holidays ready for this weekend's Open Gardens. We think you'll agree that they have done a brilliant job!
