Bear's Adventure
Our story this week focuses on a bear that is sadly left on a beach and is taken away by the tide on an adventure, before returning back to his humans. It has beautiful illustrations and has been a good introduction to our beach theme. The children have thoroughly enjoyed the ice cream van role play and have been buying and selling ice creams and lollipops with real pennies.
The weather has become increasingly hot during the week, so we have been playing outside in the mornings. The water and sand play has been particularly popular. Our 30 Day Wild activities have been cloud watching, mud pie mixing (using a selection of 'ingredients'), making nature bracelets and bug hunting. On Thursday, N1 children joined Holly Class to do some large outdoor pictures of a butterfly life cycle i.e. eggs, caterpillar, chrysalis and butterfly using outdoor resources. Meanwhile our N2 children were introduced to their new buddies as part of their transition into Reception Class.
Our phonics, has been making a shopping list of odd things, all beginning with a specific letter, e.g. tiger, tortoise, tin, teeth etc. Our maths involved feeling how many objects are in a feely box and using our hands to count them. We have also started to make some beautiful sea collages.
