In English, we've started work on a new book called 'Slime', focusing on how to write command sentences using bossy (imperative) verbs. We've also looked at the features of such non-fiction texts.
The Year 1s have been counting in 10s and 5s in maths, while the Year 2s have moved on to volume and capacity.
This week, in our topic lesson, we found out more about villages, towns and cities, then the children worked in groups to create a map of Ashton, using the photographs taken during our recent Forest School trip. And in computing, we've begun a new unit focusing on digital art using a program called Paintz.app. We're looking forward to seeing the masterpieces the children produce as they hone their creative skills!
In PSHE we got outside to see what was good about our school environment and how we could improve it. There were lots of good ideas about making the playground the best it could be!
Finally, the children continued with their DT learning about freestanding structures and they had a go at making frames using rolled up paper. They discovered that triangles made a strong frame and then they used this information to make swings for their toys!
