Shaping Bright Futures Together

We've had a busy week in school! Our Year 4 children have completed their multiplication checks after lots of hard work and practise – we were so proud of how sensibly and confidently they approached the challenge. In maths, Year 3 have been learning all about time durations, using the correct units like seconds and minutes to answer different questions. Meanwhile, Year 4 have been exploring the properties of triangles, learning how to compare different types of triangles and spot their features.

This week, we have continued to explore the wonderful story of Oliver and the Seawigs. We used the text to help us practise placing commas in a list and using them for clarity in our writing. To apply our learning, we wrote our own fantastic seawig descriptions, full of creative ideas and well-punctuated sentences! We’ve also been using the book to develop our reading VIPERS skills, with a special focus on exploring the vocabulary used by the author. It’s been great to see everyone engaging so thoughtfully with the text!

In our Geography lessons this week, we've been learning all about cities around the world! We started with a competition, using atlases to locate the capital cities of different countries. After that, we chose some of these cities to research in more detail. We looked at their physical and human features, population, and climate. Everyone worked hard to create colourful and informative fact files to show what they had found.
