Shaping Bright Futures Together

2526 Hawthorn Class 24th April

We've enjoyed welcoming the children back to school for our final term together. They've come so far since September!
We have started one of our favourite books in English - Wanted: The Perfect Pet! The children are really enjoying it and have already done some fantastic creative writing. In maths, we've just finished Multiplication and Division, with the Year 2s beginning to get to grips with the 2, 5 and 10 times tables. Next week, we'll be taking a look at Length and Height, involving lots of practical measuring.
Our new topic, London's Burning has been incredibly popular so far and we're looking forward to working on a classroom display with the children in which we'll recreate a typical scene of the Great Fire of London.
In RE, we've also begun a new unit, called 'How should we care for others and the world?' This follows on nicely from our recent 'Eco' topic, but we began by looking at the story of The Good Samaritan. We also discussed the key message - treat others how you would like to be treated yourself.
In Computing, we're coming towards the end of our Scratch programming unit and will be moving on to 'Data and Information' next.
