2526 Oak Class 5th December
With the arrival of December, we are starting to get excited about Christmas and enjoy a few Christmas treats such as glow dodgeball and the Christmas fayre. Alongside this the learning in Oak class continues.
In English over the last week, we have been exploring extended metaphors in poetry. We have been reading ‘The Sea’ by James Reeves, looking at how punctuation is used to create rhythm and how Reeves describes the sea as a hungry dog.
In Maths we have been exploring fractions. We have been able to recognise and work out equivalent fractions, compare fractions less than and greater than 1 and learnt lots of mathematical terms such as ‘mixed numbers’ and ‘improper fractions.’
We have continued our topic all about Ancient Egypt and learnt about the countries Egypt traded with and how they traded goods. We made our own Egyptian boats and tested to see whether how much weight they could carry.
In our art lessons we have been creating 3D sculptures of ourselves using wire and fabric.
