Shaping Bright Futures Together

2526 Oak w/c 10th November

After a refreshing half term break Oak class has enjoyed being back in the classroom again. In English we have started to look at Non-fiction writing and have been exploring ‘Inspiring Inventors who are changing our future’ by Hiba Noor Khan. We have found out about lots of interesting inventions such as the self-adjusting glasses and the Zeer pot from Nigeria that acts like a fridge to keep food fresh.

We continue our topic all about Ancient Egypt and have analysed tomb painting to see what they can tell us about life in ancient times. We have even been learning how to draw like the Egyptians and created some lovely profile pictures of Egyptians. Our art lessons have also included exploring parts of the face in more detail and the children have produced some amazing sketches of the eye.

In Maths we have been multiplying and dividing by 10, 100 and 1000; using our place value charts to help us move our digits along. We have explored square and cube numbers, by using arrays and multilink cubes to make them. At the same time, we have been exploring patterns in our multiplication squares.

Oak class put a lot of work and practise into their Remembrance Assembly this week which was a very respectful occasion. They did us proud!
