This week, we completed our final swimming session for the term. We are really proud of how hard the children have worked. Throughout the lessons, they have shown wonderful determination as they developed their swimming technique and improved the distances they were able to achieve. Their confidence in the water has grown , and it has been fantastic to see their progress. As an added treat, the children also had the opportunity to take part in an exciting session of glow dodgeball led by a visiting coach. Working in three teams, they played against one another —aiming to strike their opponents with the glowing dodgeballs while dodging and darting out of the way themselves!
In Maths, both year groups have been working hard on their times tables. Year 3 have been using their knowledge of the 2 and 5 times tables to begin to recall multiples of 7. Year 4 have been exploring the 11 and 12 times tables, developing their rapid recall and using these facts to tackle challenges. The children have shown perseverance and are becoming increasingly confident at applying their multiplication knowledge in a problem-solving contexts.
In English, we have been exploring the humorous text I Don’t Believe It, Archie! to help us learn how to punctuate dialogue accurately. The children have enjoyed creating their own playscripts between the characters, and these will form the basis for writing their own pieces of dialogue next week.
In Topic, we have continued our work on Ancient Egypt, focusing on their beliefs and the many gods they worshipped. The children have researched a range of Egyptian gods, exploring their roles and significance. To celebrate their learning, we are preparing for “Ancient Egypt’s Got Talent”, where pupils will present their knowledge in fun and creative ways.
