2627 Acorn wc 14th September
This week, the Acorn focus has been on ways we can care for others. The children have enjoyed lots of imaginative play, becoming doctors and vets and caring for their patients. Our home corner has also been extended, with doctors’ bags and cosy blankets arriving for the children to use in their play.
On Tuesday morning, we had a very exciting arrival… our very own Pet Star! This special new friend is also the star of our story “My Pet Star”, which we have been enjoying together. The children have been incredibly caring towards our new arrival. They have been preparing a cosy bed, creating cosmic snacks, reading stories together and even fixing his broken bits using foil! It has been wonderful to see their imaginations come to life as they think about what our Pet Star might need and how they can look after him.
We have also started our phonics, with our rhyme time sessions each morning, where we are developing our listening, rhyming and sound awareness skills. This will gradually build to our tuning into sound sessions after half term.
Well done Acorn children for a fabulous first few weeks!
