Shaping Bright Futures Together

Oak Week Beginning 16th June 2025

What a hot week! We have been making the most of as many opportunities as is possible to work outside.

The Year 5 children had great fun completing the Bikeability program on Monday and Tuesday and have learnt more about how to ride in a safe way on our local roads. They all came back with beaming smiles having enjoyed the opportunity to be out and about the village. They also learnt how long the hill is on Elmely Road!

Back inside the classroom we have been very busy developing our geometry skills. We have learnt to recognise different types of angles and apply this knowledge to measuring angles with a protractor. The children have become very good at estimating angles and had good fun demonstrating this skill using an 'Alien Angles Attack' game on Mathsframe.

We have started our new topic called Britain in the 1940's this week and have examined the causes of World War 2 and discussed the events that led up to the outbreak of war in 1939. Over the next few weeks we will look at how all the events affected the lives of children during this time looking especially at evacuation and living through the Blitz.

On Thursday the Year 4 children met their buddies for the first time when they came in for one of their transition visits. They were extremely excited to find out who they have been paired up with and had a great time playing with them and helping them have an exciting visit. There were smiles all round and the Y4's all took their new role very seriously engaging with the younger children in lots of positive ways. They all reminisced about their own buddy and the lovely experiences they shared together. It was a great reminder of how special our buddy system is and what a big difference it makes to the newest and oldest members of our school.

On Thursday afternoon, two children from Y5, Bethany and Thomas represented us at the STEM works final held at Mazak in Worcester. They had great fun taking part in the engineering challenge and had to build an earthmover that could pick up transport too!!
