Willow wb 15.09.25
Welcome to the first Willow Class blog of the year! The children have made a great start to the term. They have quickly settled into the routines of our classroom and are already showing great enthusiasm for their learning.
Our English lessons have been inspired by the book “The Beasties”. The children have been working hard on using expanded noun phrases to make their writing more descriptive and engaging. They have shown lots of creativity in their ideas and vocabulary. In Maths, we have been focusing on place value, which is helping the children to build a strong foundation for the rest of the year. We have also been practising times tables: Years 2 and 3 are working on quick recall of the 2, 5 and 10 times tables, while Year 4 are focusing on the 3, 4 and 8 times tables. Regular practice at home really helps to build confidence and fluency in these.
In Science we have started our topic on plants. The children have enjoyed finding out why plants are so important for people and animals, as well as learning to identify the main parts of a plant and their functions. We have also made a start on our topic based around Ancient Egypt and have been learning about the key physical and human features we would find. We also started our French lessons which are based on greetings this half term. The children played a snakes and ladders themed game to rehearse these phrases.
It has been wonderful to see how quickly the children have settled back into school life. They are already working hard, supporting one another, and showing a great attitude towards their learning. We are looking forward to an exciting half term ahead!
