Governor News September 2025
Welcome Back to the Autumn Term
As we step into the new autumn term, I would like to extend a warm welcome back to all our families, and a special greeting to those joining us for the first time. We are delighted to begin another exciting chapter at Ashton under Hill First School, where our shared mission is to “shape bright futures together.”
Our school is a happy and nurturing place where every child is valued as an individual. With wellbeing and kindness at the heart of all we do, we strive to create an environment where children feel safe, supported, and inspired to achieve their very best. This term, we will continue to encourage our pupils to embrace challenges with a positive mindset, reminding them of our school motto: “I can’t do it yet.” This approach helps build resilience, creativity, and a lifelong love of learning.
We are fortunate to be set in such a beautiful location, and we will continue to make the most of the wonderful countryside around us to enrich the children’s learning experiences. Alongside our strong academic focus, we are committed to offering opportunities beyond the classroom—whether through outdoor learning, creative projects, or community involvement.
This term promises to be full of exciting events and opportunities for our pupils to shine. From Family Assemblies to class activities and enrichment experiences, there will be plenty of moments to celebrate together. Please keep an eye on the school calendar for key dates, including our upcoming assemblies and the October half-term break.
Finally, I would like to thank you for your continued support. Our strong partnership with parents and the wider community is what makes Ashton under Hill First School such a special place. Together, we can ensure that every child thrives and enjoys their learning journey.
Here’s to a fantastic autumn term ahead!
Warm regards,
Geoff Mills, Chair of Governors
