Shaping Bright Futures Together

2526 Oak wb 23rd March

This term Oak class have been exploring Climate and Biomes. We learnt about and located the three main climates on a world map (temperate, polar and tropical) and thought about how and why they are different from each other. We then learnt what a Biome was and how it was different from a climate. We explored a woodland Biome in forest school and completed challenges within the classroom for other Biomes, for example building shelters to keep out the wind of a tundra and the sun of the desert.

In Maths this half term we have explored decimals and fractions, in particular writing tenths and hundredths as fractions and decimals and representing them on a hundred square.

Our art lessons have involved creating paper-mache bowls in the style of Matisse, they added lots of colour to the classroom displays.

The Year 5s were also given an exciting STEM challenge to complete this week, where they had to design and build an attraction for West Midlands Safari Park which had to be a ride with movable parts that was based on an animal at their park. We had some great designs, and everyone worked so hard in their teams. Well done to Archie and Charlie!.

In English we have begun to look at the features of persuasive texts. We have explored different adverts, brochures and letters and how effective they are. We will continue this after Easter alongside rehearsals for our summer production which we are all very excited about!
