Oak Week Beginning 22nd June 2025
There has been a lot happening in Oak Class this week with Transition Day and a Bellboating Regatta too, lots of exciting this for the children to experience.
The Year 5's had their first taste of their new schools this week and all came back buzzing about what a brilliant time they had had, full of who they were with and who their new form tutor would. But most importantly what House they were in! The Year 4's had an equally exciting day as they met their new teacher, Mrs Richards, for the first time and had a great morning telling her all about themselves, making a lovely display for the class room for next term and completing a super team building activity - they were very competitive! We are all very much looking forward to welcoming Mrs Richards to our teaching team and we are excited to get to know her better in September.
On Thursday the Year 5 attended the small schools Bellboating Regatta in Pershore. It was a brilliant experience for them and they raced their little arms off! They were the fastest team in nearly all of their heats but unfortunately they didn't get placed in the 3 fastest times. This didn't dampen their spirits one bit, they were an absolute pleasure to be with and they behaved incredibly well, representing our school in the best way possible. Many of the people who were running the event commented on their politeness and listening skills as they had stood out from other schools in this aspect.
Whilst the Y5's were out and about, the Year 4's were lucky to have Mrs Peacey for the day and she continued their understanding of shapes through learning about symmetry. She also extended their understanding of what life would be like in the 1940's for children in regard to rationing. They learnt all about how food was bought with coupons and lots of people had to change the foods they ate. They also learnt some war time songs; I could clearly hear them all singing Run rabbit, run rabbit, run, run, run, run as we got back to school!!
With only 3 weeks left we have an awful lot to squeeze in, next Tuesday is Sports Day so we look forward to seeing you if you can attend.
