• Thursday 13 November 2025 2526 Willow wb 10.11.25 This half term, Willow class has been busy exploring the wonderful world of plants. We learned all about the different parts of a plant and their important functions. To help us understand better, we even dissected a flower to see its parts up close. It was fascinating to spot the petals, stamens, and tiny seeds for ourselves! One of our favourite experiments was learning about the role of the stem. We placed flowers in coloured water and watched as the food dye travelled up the stem, changing the colour of the petals. It was amazing to see how plants transport water! Next half term, we'll be moving on to an exciting new science topic, States of Matter. We'll be learning about solids, liquids, and gases, and discovering how materials can change from one state to another.

• Thursday 26 June 2025 25 Holly Class Week beginning 23rd June The weeks are whizzing by in Holly Class we take part in and work in preparing for lots of different summer term activities! On Wednesday, it was transition morning and all of the children in school moved to the classes they will be in from September for a few hours. All of the children in Holly class came back from Hawthorn class having had a lovely time and excited for what is to come, it was lovely to see. We will continue to talk about next year and what that means so that the children feel fully prepared come September.

• Friday 20 June 2025 25 Willow wb 16.06.25 This week we started work on our new topic which is history based and all about life in 1940s Britain. We began by learning about the countries who were involved in WW2 and some of the causes for this event in History. We then mapped the countries according to those who were allies, those controlled by axis power and those who remained neutral. Next week we will be considering what life was like for children during this time and how the war had an impact on their everyday lives.

• Friday 13 June 2025 25 Willow wb 09.06.25 We've had a busy week in school! Our Year 4 children have completed their multiplication checks after lots of hard work and practise – we were so proud of how sensibly and confidently they approached the challenge. In maths, Year 3 have been learning all about time durations, using the correct units like seconds and minutes to answer different questions. Meanwhile, Year 4 have been exploring the properties of triangles, learning how to compare different types of triangles and spot their features.
• Friday 13 June 2025 25 Holly Class Week beginning 9th June The sunshine and seaside has arrived in Holly class this week as we begin our new Geography topic, Beside the Seaside. The children have loved spending time in the theatre space in our classroom which is now set up as the beach, a boat and an ice cream shop! The children have also been recapping their knowledge of the countries that make up the UK and sharing their experiences of visiting the seaside. We enjoyed spotting some coastal settlements using google earth and learning about the the geographical features of the beach.

• Thursday 12 June 2025 25 Oak Week Beginning 9th June Oak Class have been getting into shape - the 2D variety, learning and revising their properties and working on their geometric skills when drawing triangles and quadrilaterals. We can describe a variety of different polygons, both regular and irregular and can sort them using range of methods using Venn and Carroll diagrams.

• Thursday 12 June 2025 25 Acorn 25 Mr Gumpy's Outing Mr Gumpy’s Outing is a funny story that features a boat that is so overfull that it tips and the animals fall out! This has led us to experiment with floating and sinking, looking at different materials, their buoyancy and the amount of weight that they can hold. We have also used this as a basis to our phonics and have been pracitising using our robot voices to identify the different animals that are on the boat.

• Thursday 22 May 2025 25 Acorn The Paper Bag Princess What an exciting week it has been! On Monday, we had a visit from Mr Bumble the pony (kindly brought into school by Mrs Pilcher). This gave us all chance to wear our crowns and shields, and go for a pony ride around the playground. It has also been science week, so we have been looking at 'hot and cold'. In the afternoon, we used ice paints to colour a large piece of paper.

There were 12 activities all run by year 5's from the first schools that were taking part. The activities were designed and thought up by the Year 5 pupils themselves.

• Thursday 20 March 2025 25 Acorn - Errol's Garden The book Errol's Garden is a story about a little boy who is desperate to have his own garden and, with the help of his community, creates a garden on the roof top of the block of flats where he lives. Motivated by Errol, we are turning our thoughts to the outside and to Spring. We have been looking for signs of the new season both within the school grounds and in the orchard behind it. We have found white, yellow, purple and red flowers within the school grounds and will have a look again in June to see if there are more. We have also heard birds, seen blue skies and spotted shadows. The children have all planted a spider plant 'baby' to take home and look after.

This years theme was 'Know Yourself, Grow Yourself and it was partnered by the film Inside Out 2 (a great watch if you haven't seen it)
• Friday 28 February 2025 25 Holly Class Week beginning 24th February This week we have been having our own Children's Mental Health week in school. Each day we have checked in with our colour monsters and chatted about how we are feeling at different points throughout the school day. We have watched some clips of Inside Out and and read some lovely books such as 'Ruby's Worry'. This afternoon we also made some helping hands to keep in our draws at school so that the children always have a reminder of who they might chat to if they have a worry or concern.

• Wednesday 15 January 2025 25 Willow wb 13.01.25 Willow class have been exploring their new topic 'Wonderful Worcestershire' in more detail this week. We have identified the location within the United Kingdom and described it's location using the different compass points. The children had a task which involved making connections in order to describe Worcestershire and they did a brilliant job reflecting on what we know about our local area. In Science, the children explored how magnets work and how they can be used in everyday life. We learned that magnets work at a distance and can come in many shapes, sizes and strengths. We explored what the world would be like if our fingertips had magnets attached! In music lessons, we listened to a rap all about anti bullying written by Joanna Mangona. We also had our first swimming session this week and it was lovely to see the children showing confidence with their water skills and really enjoying their time in the pool.

• Monday 16 December 2024 Governor News December 2024 The recent parent governor ballot was well supported and the governors thank all three candidates for taking an interest in the role. As a result, Emma Robertson is the new Parent Governor, taking the place of Alan Chattell who’s term of office recently expired. Alan had been the vice chair. Due to his specific skillset, at the last governor meeting in November, Alan was unanimously elected back onto the board as a co-opted governor.

• Thursday 21 November 2024 2425 Acorn -The Three Little Pigs The snow that arrived on Tuesday caused great excitement. We went straight outside to play in it, even managing to build a snowman before cold fingers and toes got the better of us. On Thursday, we hunted in the playground for ice and brought it inside to investigate. We noticed that it was very cold, that it broke when we dropped it and that it had tiny little bubbles in it. After a while it melted, leaving puddles!

• Wednesday 20 November 2024 2425 Willow wb 18.11.24 Willow class have been completing their art project this week which has involved working together to create large display size dragon heads that could be displayed on a Viking longship. We have used our sketching skills including hatching and stippling to add tone to the dragon's head as well as collage to create the textured appearance of dragon scales. We were really impressed with the finished effect and the children worked really effectively together.

• Thursday 16 May 2024 2324 Acorn - Lollipop Pheasant This book has lovely illustrations and reminded us how important it is to cross the road safely. We learnt a song which taught us to 'Stop, Think, Listen and Look' before we cross the road. We then went out on our balance bikes and followed a road track, stopping when the 'Lollipop Person' held up their sign to stop the traffic. We also practised walking safely along the pavement (round the track of the field) before going out on an adventure to the meadow. All the children that went listened really well, walked very sensibly, and enjoyed playing under the oak tree. Thank you to Mrs Grey, who kindly accompanied us on Monday.

This means that our focus has shifted somewhat to outdoor play and experiencing all the fun that our outdoor area has to offer. There has been an outdoor obstacle courses, car tracks and plenty of water play. Everyone feels brighter and livelier and our emotional check in board reveals that most of us are feeling happy (and hungry)! We had the discussion before lunch.

• Thursday 7 March 2024 2324 Acorn - Tidy Our book 'Tidy' tells the story of a badger who is upset by his untidy woodland home. He proceeds to cut down trees and lay concrete in order to tidy it up. It is only then that he realises that he has no food and his friends have nowhere to live. He starts to rebuild the wood, until everything is restored back to normal. This has given us plenty to think about and led to discussion about how we can look after the countryside.

• Wednesday 28 February 2024 Willow wb 26.02.24 This week as part of our Science, the children have been learning about reflective surfaces. We compared light sources and objects that reflect light and described what happens when rays of light hit the objects. We also discussed the difference between opaque, translucent and transparent. The children looked at various objects and sorted them into items with a reflective surface and items that absorb light. We learned that light travels in straight lines and can bounce off objects and reflect back into our eyes. In music we have been appraising and learning to sing a new song called ‘The Dragon Song’. We accompanied this piece with our recorders where we placed G and A by listening carefully.

Our story this week has been The Jolly Christmas Postman and the children have loved turning the role play area into a Christmas post office! Some special helpers were chosen to sort all of the mail delivered into the school post box and deliver them to the right classes. The children have loved getting into the Christmas spirit with lots of nativity rehearsals and activities, as well as starting our class advent calendar! We began by talking about why soil is important and looked at what soil is made from. We then used the magnifying glasses to look at different soil samples, noticing their differences and similarities. We even found some living creatures in some of the samples! In Music, we've continued with our recorder lessons and this week we learnt the note D. We've been working on playing together as an ensemble and have been practising reading notes on a stave.

• Friday 7 July 2023 Ben runs his first 5K for CASK On Saturday, Ben (Willow Class) will be taking part in the Cheltenham Parkrun as part of the CASK “Race for Research”. A 5km fun run with friends and family to help raise awareness and vital funds for scientific research into the CASK gene disorders for CASK Gene Awareness Day, which is celebrated globally on 15 July. Ben’s little sister Ailla was born with an ultra-rare genetic mutation in her CASK gene, resulting in an even more rare neurological disorder called MICPCH. There are less than 300 cases worldwide! In simple terms, this caused Ailla’s brain to not develop or grow properly, resulting in severe intellectual disability, visual impairments, sleep disorder, development delay, challenges in both her gross and fine motor skills, autism and a lack of communication (non-verbal). Many of the CASK community also suffer the most severe forms of epilepsy and never go on to walk, which means their lives are significantly limited.

• Thursday 6 July 2023 23 Oak Week Beginning 3rd July This week we have completed our summaries of A Midsummers Night Dream, the children did a brilliant job of including al the main events in this very complicated plot. They have enjoyed their first experience of studying a Shakespearean text and I hope it will inspire them to discover others. Our next writing task is to write a balanced argument and we will use our Topic focus - Protecting Our Future (which is all about plastic waste) to construct points for each side of the argument. In Maths we have been converting between different forms of measurement and putting our multiplication and division by 10, 100, and 1000 skills to good use. We have learnt that the prefix 'milli' and 'kilo' refer to the number 1000 which has helped us to remember some of the key facts. We have also been doing our end of term assessments and they showing how hard we have worked to make progress this year.

We explored the definitions of evaporation, condensation, precipitation and accumulation and then created an interactive diagram as a way to explain our knowledge. We learnt about the crucial role the sun plays in our water cycle and how these processes are linked with rivers. Going forward, we are now going to be finding out about the three main stages of a river and which features you are likely to find in each section.

• Thursday 15 July 2021 Key Stage 2 Intra House Rounders Today we had great fun taking part in an intra house rounders tournament trying to win the Rounders House Cup. Ruby House were keen to take the double after their sports day victory yesterday, but the other three houses worked very hard to take the title for themselves!

• Friday 2 July 2021 Bikeability This week the Year 5 children took part in Bikeability - the road safety programme for riding bicycles safely. They worked in small groups and had training sessions on the playground and the roads in the village.  They had a brilliant time and came from each session bursting with enthusiasm and confidence, sharing stories of what the had learnt. They all looked very smart in their cycle helmets and thoroughly enjoyed this experience.

It was perfectly linked to our current topic which covers living in a more sustainable way, as this is how the farm and its estate are run.
